Luxury detached holiday home, the Orangery, located on our 13-hectare estate, beautifully located between Beaune and Autun in Burgundy.

Peace, space and Burgundian enjoyment on a centuries-old estate.
The stately spacious detached orangery (115 m2) is equipped for 4 people.

The orangery was built around 1815 to keep the orange trees, which stood in front of the castle, in the winter indoors.
When we came to live here in 2003, the building was totally overgrown and derelict. We cleared the building and left it like that for years.



In the winter of 2014, we started the massive renovation of this stately building. We expanded at the back and put an extra floor on the building.
It was a huge job that took 4 winters in which we used as much as possible materials from the estate.
Oak, douglas and silver fir trees were used for the beam structures, oak and ash for finishing.
Blocks of natural stone weighing over 200 kilos from a ruin on the property were stacked to build a solid structure.

The structure of the holiday home

Ground level

The orangery consists of a very spacious living room with open kitchen with cooking island.
Huge windows provide lots of light and beautiful views of our meadows, forests and the abandoned water mill complex.



The luxurious Bulthaup kitchen island is fully equipped including induction cooking, quooker, dishwasher, steam oven, washing machine, fridge/freezer.

On the north side of the house, we made small windows on different levels. Because the river flows right behind the house, this provides fresh air so that it remains wonderfully cool even in the summer.



The living room has a spacious 2-and 3-seater sofa, a beautiful stone fireplace and a wood-burning stove. This, combined with underfloor heating on the entire ground floor, makes the house a pleasure to be in even during the winter.

Next to the living/dining room is the hallway with toilet and stairs to the first floor.

First Floor

On the first floor are 2 very spacious bedrooms with open roof construction.



Both bedrooms have a luxurious ensuite bathroom, each with its own toilet.
Because of the many windows, the bedrooms have a beautiful view over the estate.
The double beds have a size of 160 x 200.

Outdoors

The detached orangery is located on a spacious garden at the back directly bordering a small river. At the front overlooking the meadows, our forest and the castle.
In the large garden are lovely areas to read a book in a lazy chair or just enjoy the view of the landscape.

The house is for a maximum of 4 persons and not suitable for babies or young children.
